There are two ways you can use your Bluetooth phone to connect to the Internet:
Check with your mobile phone provider to see whether this option is available on its network. Some mobile phone providers may block or disallow analog dial-up connections from their network. Check previous posting for some network configuration setting of some network providers in Nigeria. In such instances, if you try to connect to a dial-up ISP or to send a dial-up fax via your cell phone from your computer, you may fail to establish a connection.
After you have determined which connection method is appropriate for your mobile network, use the Bluetooth Setup Assistant to pair the computer to your phone:
- Use the phone as a modem for a dial-up connection to an Internet service provider (ISP).
- Use the phone to connect your computer directly to a network provided by your cellular service provider (such as GPRS or 1xRTT).

- Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant, located in /Applications/Utilities.
- Pair the phone and the computer.
- When prompted, select the option to Access the Internet with your phone's data connection, as shown below. Choose whichever connection method is appropriate for your mobile service.
- The next screen will prompt you for your connection setting information. If you are not sure what name, password, or other information needs to be entered, check with your mobile phone provider and/or ISP for more information. Be sure to select the correct modem script for your phone. Sony Ericsson Bluetooth phones will use the "Sony Ericsson Infrared" modem script, which is designed to work with both Infrared and Bluetooth connections. Both dialup and direct connection options are shown.
- Finish the Setup Assistant, and then the phone should be ready to connect.
